I didn’t really cope at all, to be honest. I got along with a lot of groups of people, but never really found a group I really was compatible with. SO I HID IN THE LIBRARY FOR THE REST OF MY FIRST SEMESTER. No kidding. For the second semester, I hung out a lot with my org, AMP and that’s where I usually ended up hanging out.
A lesson, though: I learned to like company by myself. :) You’ll learn that it’s not so bad, really. I was never a “social creature,” so I didn’t mind it at all. I made friends through classes (Ateneo likes groupwork unfortunately) and orgs in which I was super active.
You really don’t have to go out of your way. You get thrown into new situations where you are kind of forced to talk to people. The only thing you can really do is be open to getting to know people and taking it from there. :)
